About the Kusasa Project

Founded in 2006 in the Cape Winelands of South Africa, the Kusasa Project was established to address the deep-rooted barriers to early childhood education facing disadvantaged children in the Franschhoek Valley. At its heart is the Kusasa Academy, an independent primary school that has been providing a strong educational foundation to underprivileged children since 2010.

The Academy takes a whole-child approach, nurturing each learner's social, emotional and cognitive development alongside academic progress. Small class sizes, access to technology, and a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of therapists ensure that children receive the support they need to grow into confident, compassionate and capable individuals.

As an independent school that receives no government funding, the Kusasa Project relies entirely on the generosity of its local and international community. Every contribution, however it arrives, helps keep this work going.
